Our Unique Approach to counseling

Rock House Center’s unique approach to therapy is grounded in our proprietary therapy program — Motive Transition Therapy®.

Motive Transition Therapy® begins with premise that spiritual wellbeing is the foundation of mental health and every life issue can be improved by relying on biblical principles.  The therapy closely follows a curriculum version of Be Transformed- New Life Awaits, which was developed over 15 years of working with individuals struggling with mental health issues, addiction, relationship problems and more. The therapy approach is regularly enhanced through new inspiration and systematic evaluation of our day-to-day experiences helping others.

About Motive Transition Therapy

Motive Transition Therapy® is our highly effective approach to emotional healing — it’s the foundation of Rock House Center’s superior and consistent client results.

Grounded in 12 years of successful application of Biblical principles, our approach addresses the root causes of emotional suffering, self-defeating behaviors, and troubled relationships.

Motive Transition Therapy® is an evidenced-based therapy that is consistently validated by pre- and post- self-assessments from each client we serve.

Rock House Center exclusively uses Motive Transition Therapy® to serve our clients and achieve consistent, strong results.

Distinct from Traditional Behavior Health Therapies:

Traditional psychotherapy, Christian counseling, and psychiatry typically seek to change emotions and modify behavior through medications and talk therapy. These approaches are more focused on controlling symptoms than resolving root causes.

While change can be experienced through these methods, consistent positive change is usually not sustainable after medication or talk therapy is concluded. (See footnotes)

Instead of focusing on symptom management, Rock House Center uses Motive Transition Therapy® to identify and resolve root causes on a spiritual level. This creates sustainable, lifetime positive change.

At Rock House Center, we believe that resolving root causes is the best pathway to the sustainable life change our clients seek.

Limited Duration:

While other forms of counseling and treatment are open-ended, potentially continuing over a long period, the Rock House Center process is limited to 32 hours of counseling, typically provided over 16 weeks.

Clients may choose to meet weekly or every other week or twice weekly. It is uncommon for our clients to continue beyond 32 hours of counseling.

Our therapy is not designed to ‘journey through life’ with clients helping them ‘cope with their struggles’ — as is often case with secular therapies.

Motive Transition Therapy is designed to seek God’s resolution to life challenges and launch clients on a new life trajectory, with minimal need for additional counseling.

Methodology:

At Rock House Center, we use our proprietary Motive Transition Therapy® counseling model to uncover the root causes of negative emotions and unwanted behaviors.

As each cause is identified, we guide our clients through healing at the source of their struggle in the context of Biblical truth and prayer.

This process is facilitated by a Biblical counselor and includes home study of our daily devotional materials and weekly video resources to advance personal heart change between counseling sessions.

Staying engaged in the healing process between one-on-one sessions is another way we differ from traditional therapies. With Motive Transition Therapy® materials, there is a consistent daily focus on healing between each session that serves to accelerate and increase healing.

No Mental Health Stigma:

At Rock House Center, we do not label or diagnose our clients!

There is no mental health diagnosis in a client’s file and no stigma of engaging a mental health practitioner. Motive Transition Therapy® does not incorporate or attempt to replicate mental health practices.

RHC counselors are trained and certified in our proprietary Biblical counseling approach and use only that methodology.

Motive Transition Therapy Resources:

During counseling, clients are provided three basic resources to address their needs:

  1. One-on-one counseling time with a certified Rock House Center counselor

  2. 16-section devotional guide, complete with 300+ days of content providing a biblical foundation to advance at home between sessions

  3. 16 videos (45-60 minutes in duration) that correlate to the 16-section devotional guide, also viewed between sessions

Process:

  1. Introductory counseling session, which includes an assessment and consultation, establishes a launch for the counseling program

  2. One-on-one sessions with a Biblical counselor supported by devotional guide and videos

  3. Program is a defined duration of 16 sessions or 32 hours of counseling, but clients only commit for each next session as scheduled. Full program completion is recommended as long as the client and their counselor agree that the sessions are productive. Clients can anticipate experiencing the best results after full program completion, as the impact is cumulative throughout the process.

  4. Clients are always welcome to return to Rock House Center for additional sessions as they feel the need.
